Big building needed for our lukki (bottle gourd) October 14th 2023

Yesterday we started building this construction on the lukki (bottle gourd) bed in the Suryan garden.

Normally we tie these plants up with string using the permanent metal climbing frame which is on all the beds in this garden.

The plants on this bed are a different sort of lukki to the one we normally plant. Rajan thinks that because the vegetables of this one will be a different shape and heavier than our usual variety we should build a more sturdy frame for them. According to him they will produce more the more they are able to climb.

We found some sturdy pieces of wood and this is what we have built so far.
